First Team Players 

  1 - Graham Westley
Manager
Graham Westley returned to Broadhall Way in May 2008 for his second spell as Stevenage manager and led them to FA Trophy success at Wembley in his first season. He had previously managed the club between 2003 and 2006. Having originally saved the club from relegation, he lead Borough to the play-off final in 2005 and successive top six finishes in the league. Since leaving the club after his contract expired, he went on to manage both Rushden & Diamonds and Kettering Town for short spells. The former Farnborough Town manager had a playing career spanning numerous clubs including Kingstonian, Wycombe Wanderers, Barnet, Gillingham, and Queens Park Rangers.
   
  2 - John Dryer
Asst Manager
Borough fans’ favourite John Dreyer returned as assistant to Graham Westley, having worked together at Stevenage and Rushden & Diamonds. Former Bradford, Luton and Oxford defender Dreyer, who joined Stevenage from Cambridge United in August 2001, had a spell in charge at Broadhall Way in 2003 before Graham Westley was named as the permanent successor to Wayne Turner. After leaving Borough in search of a managerial position, he joined Maidenhead, guiding the team to the quarter-finals of the FA trophy and securing a place in the Conference South.
   
  3 - Dino Maamria
First-team Coach
Maamria joined the Borough management team midway through the 2008-09 season after a highly successful spell at the helm of Conference side Northwich Victoria. Maamria is well known to Stevenage fans having played for the club between 2003 and 2006, scoring 42 goals in 107 appearances. His other clubs include Doncaster Rovers, Southport, Leigh RMI and Rushden & Diamonds.
   
  1 - Ashley Bayes
Goalkeeper
The experienced stopper was one of Graham Westley’s first signings in his second spell in charge at Borough, having rejected Crawley Town’s offer of a new deal. The much travelled keeper has previously had spells with Brentford, Torquay, Hornchurch and Leyton Orient where he displaced Scott Barrett as number one keeper and played under former manager Mark Stimson at Grays
   
  2 - Lawrie Wilson
Defender/Midfield
A versatile player, equally comfortably at right back or right-side midfield, Wilson was signed for Stevenage Borough at the start of the 2007-08 campaign by previous manager Mark Stimson from Championship side Colchester United. Last year he proved to be an integral part of the Borough squad.
   
  3 - Scott Laird
Defender
The left back arrived from Plymouth Argyle, initially on a one-month loan deal. Laird began his career as a trainee at Plymouth, making his debut in his side’s 2-1 victory over Wycombe Wanderers in August 2007. Initially a centre back, Laird was used in central midfield, where he made his debut for the senior side. Has since reverted to a left back role, where he played when on loan at Tiverton Town and earlier this season at Blue Square Premier rivals Torquay United.
   
  4 - Eddie Odhiambo
Defender/Midfield
After rejecting the offer of a new contract from Oxford United, Graham Westley swooped quickly to bring pacey right back Anaclet to Stevenage. At home either on the wing or at full back, Anaclet started his career at Oxford before joining Southampton, playing with the likes of Theo Walcott including a spell at Yeovil on loan. After catching the eye of then Oxford manager Jim Smith, he moved back to his hometown club, making 30 appearances in the 2007/08 season.
   
  5 - Jon Ashton
Defender
Jon joined Borough just before the transfer window closed in January 2009. He learnt his football at Leicester City from the age of nine. The centre-back has loan spells at Notts County and Oxford United. He was so impressive in his first seven games for The Yellows, the club moved quickly to make the deal permanent at the end of his initial month. The young defender made over 100 appearances during 3 seasons at the Kassam Stadium. Ashton signed for Rushden in the summer of 2006, first playing for Paul Hart, then Graham Westley at Nene Park. At the end of the 2007 season he joined Grays Athletic, gaining England National XI honours while at The Rec.
   
  6 - Mark Albrighton
Defender
The experienced centre back made the short move from Cambridge to join Stevenage in the summer of 2008, signing a two-year deal and joining fellow new signing Lee Boylan at Broadhall Way. Albrighton was an influential player in the Cambridge United side that won through to the Promotion Final in May 2008, making 45 appearances. Having played at Doncaster and Boston in the league, he also has the experience of working with Graham Westley before in a loan spell at Rushden & Diamonds.
   
  7 - Darren Murphy
Midfield
Signed from Cork City in the January transfer window Darren, who is equally comfortable playing at centre-half or in midfield. He joined Cork from neighbours Cobh Ramblers in February 2007, where he had suffered from a number of injury problems in recent years. Murphy, who had been linked with City a number of times in the past, joined the club on a two-year full time deal. Darren has played mainly in the centre of midfield in his City career, and impressed many with his quality on the ball and his determination.
   
  8 - Stacy Long
Midfield
The goalscoring midfielder began his career on the books of Charlton Athletic. He impressed Notts County during a trial and was offered a year contract before securing a move to Ebbsfleet United. He made 115 appearances in three seasons for the Kent side and was part of the 2008 team that won the FA Trophy at Wembley and also finishing as the clubs top scorer with 15 goals. Plays in centre midfield but can also play down either wing.
   
  9 - Charlie Griffin
Striker
The highly rated striker was Salisbury’s top scorer last season with 21 goals. Has played for nine clubs over his career including three seasons at Woking where he signed in a £15,000 deal. The 6ft striker, who can count Swindon Town and Wycombe Wanderers among his former clubs, has consistently found the back of the net in his Conference career and will be a potent weapon in Borough’s campaign.
   
  10 - Lee Boylan
Striker
After beginning his career with West Ham United, the former Canvey Island and Grays Athletic front man joined Borough from nearby rivals Cambridge United after scoring 13 goals in 28 starts as Cambridge reached the playoff final. He had great success with Canvey, helping them get promoted to the Conference, before leaving for Grays Athletic in 2006. However after just one season Boylan joined Cambridge. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at youth level and also England ‘C’ under Paul Fairclough.
   
  11 - Yemi Odubade
Striker
Nigerian born Yemi is a pacey 25-year old winger/striker who was signed from Oxford United this summer. He started his career at Eastbourne Town scoring 64 goals in 85 appearances. Played 8 games for Yeovil in League Two before going back to Eastbourne, this time to play for Borough. Oxford paid £25,000 for him in 2006 where he made 134 appearances.
   
  13 - Joel Byrom
Midfield
Byrom was signed by Accrington Stanley in August 2006 where he made one first team appearance. Played for Clitheroe and Southport before signing for Northwich Victoria in January 2008 where he made 49 appearances scoring 9 goals including a debut goal. After failing to sign him twice last season, Graham Westley finally signed the 22 year old playmaker in a £15,000 deal.
   
  14 - Mark Roberts
Defender
The central Defender joined Borough from Northwich Victoria at the end of November 2008, making his debut in the home defeat to Wrexham. The move, initially as a loan was made permanent in January 2009. Roberts started his career at Crewe Alexandra at the age of 11and moved through the ranks at the Chesire club, playing six times in the Championship. He moved to Northwich Victoria and then joined Accrington Stanley in the Football League in the summer of 2007, making 34 appearances for the Lancashire club. He rejoined Northwich at the start of the 2008-09 season before moving on to Borough.
   
  16 - Chris Day
Goalkeeper
Chris Day joined Stevenage early in the 2008-09 season and soon made the number one spot his own. The London-born goalkeeper began his career at Tottenham Hotspurs as a trainee, only making one league appearance for the Lilywhites. He moved across London to Selhurst Park for a five-figure fee shortly before his 21st birthday. He made 26 appearances for the Eagles whilst he was at club before Graham Taylor took him to Vicarage Road. Day made 11 Premiership appearances for Watford, including the 1-0 victory at Anfield. After a spell on loan at Lincoln Day moved to QPR, making 87 appearances before moving to Oldham Athletic, 30 starts, and the Millwall, 10 appearances.
   
  18 - David Bridges
Midfield
Signed in the summer of 2008, the central midfielder joined the club with Kettering Town team-mate Gary Mills. Having previously played in the football league with Cambridge United, Bridges made the move to Latvia where he joined SK Riga. Injury meant it was only a short stay and he returned to join Histon where he helped them achieve promotion to the Conference South. After returning to Cambridge for a couple of seasons, he was released and joined Kettering. Bridges was a member of Paul Fairclough’s England ‘C’ squad to face Italy in 2006.
   
  20 - Chris Beardsley
Striker
Born in Derby, Beardsley began his career at Mansfield Town before Doncaster Rovers after a successful trial in the summer of 2004. Beardsley moved to Kidderminster Harriers in December 2004. He opted to return to Mansfield Town in the summer of 2005. After suffering an injury he joined Conference side Rushden & Diamonds on a month's loan on 19 January 2007 before signing permanently for the Northamptonshire club. After spells at York City and Kettering Beardsley signed for Stevenage Borough in May.
   
  21 - Mitchell Cole
Midfield
Cole, a left-winger, was at Norwich City's Centre of Excellence, but when the centre was closed he joined West Ham. However, injury problems limited his ability to play professional football and he joined then part-timers Grays Athletic under Mark Stimson where he was selected for the England semi-professional side. He returned to league football in mid-July 2005 joining neighbours Southend United who paid the Conference new boys a club record fee. After a loan spell at Northampton, Cole made the move to Broadhall Way in January 2007 to rejoin Mark Stimson.
   
  23 - Andy Drury
Midfield
Midfielder Drury was signed by Graham Westley after being out of contract with Conference South champions Lewes. A highly-rated box-to-box player with Ebbsfleet he adds competition anywhere across the midfield, and can play both wide right and left.
   
  24 - Michael Bostwick
Defender/Midfield
Another of Graham Westley’s summer signings in 2008, midfielder Bostwick joined from FA Trophy Winners Ebbsfleet on a two-year deal. The utility player was out of contract at the end of last season and Graham Westley moved quickly to secure his signature. Comfortable both in midfield and in defence, he has already notched up more than 80 appearances in the Conference.
   
  25 - Ronnie Henry
Defender
Signed by Graham Westley in January 2005, and although he only secured his place in the side late in the season, Henry was one of the most influential players as Borough made a late run for the play-offs. The Hemel Hempstead born centre back was a Spurs trainee for two years, and during that time played three times for Southend United while on loan. The centre back has topped the 100 appearance mark and finally got on the score sheet last season. Henry was named captain by Mark Stimson and has regularly featured for the England ‘C’ team. He recently signed a new two year deal to stay at the club.
   
  27 - Jerome Anderson
Striker
After scoring 33 goals in Oxford United’s league winning youth team Anderson was surprisingly not offered a contract by the club, which was good news for Stevenage. The talented youngster impressed in pre-season action and manager Mark Stimson was quick to offer the speedy striker a contract at Broadhall Way.
   
  30 - Peter Vincenti
Midfield
The 21-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or up front, earned a contract with Millwall for the 2007 season after impressing manager Willie Donachie in a pre-season trial. After Donachie’s departure from the club Vincenti was allowed to join Stevenage in the January 2008 transfer window. Vincenti was named Jersey footballer of the year in 2007 playing for the island’s champions St Peters.
