MORISON FIT AND READY TO GO
When Steve Morison slid the ball past Jamie Jones in the opening exchanges of Saturday’s encounter with Orient it was the striker’s fourth goal in the build up to the season.

“Yeah, that’s four I have scored in pre-season now and its probably the fittest I have felt in a pre-season,” he said. “It is the sharpest I have felt since I came here and hopefully I can carry it on into the league games coming up and emulate the two seasons I have had and better them.

“It’s been tough but we are now ready for the start of the season. Hopefully we will be up there from the start and we’ll keep it going. We have a squad to do it.

“We’ve got players who can come in, in place of players who are injured or out of form. Westy came in on Saturday in place of Macca and had a good show, but we are all together and as a squad we are ready, let’s just go out there and get started.”

As for Saturday’s last home pre-season match, the former Bishop Stortford striker felt that a draw was the least that Borough deserved. “We were disappointed to get the draw in the end, we thought we matched them,” he said.

“I thought we played well and got the lead, but we didn’t hold out. It was a poor goal from a free kick. Both sides had chances at the end, but I think we would both take a one-all at the end of the day.”

Earlier in the build up to the season it looked as though Morison may leave Broadhall Way, but to everyone’s relief the striker put pen to paper to commit his future to the club. “Yeah I am happy to be here and I just want to play football at the end of the day,” he added.

“I have a contract for three years and if at the end of this year, we don’t go up then we will sit down and talk about it again. But hopefully we will go up this year and we will all end up where we want to be.”
