STEVENAGE LAND BYROM

Highly rated Joel Byrom has today completed a move to Stevenage Borough. The 22-year-old left-sided attacking midfielder has today moved from Northwich Victoria to Boro for a £15,000 fee.

Phil Wallace said: 'As a club we've long been admirers of Joel. Graham tried to sign him in January, but he was injured and again before the loan window closed in March, but we couldn't agree a fee. We've been trying for the past two weeks to make a deal happen and are pleased it's been completed today."

Byrom started his career at Blackburn Rovers and moved to Accrington Stanley before signing for the Vics. He had a hernia operation last year that didn't heal completely until March, which coincided with Vics going on a long unbeaten run. He has been selected for the England C squad for next weeks game and meets up with new team mate Scott Laird today at the England hotel.

Three other Stevenage players selected for England have had to withdraw - Mitchell Cole and Michael Bostwick with injuries and Ronnie Henry due to prior family commitments and a newly born child.
